You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team, including designers, artists, and other developers, to bring our game concepts to life. Your Unity and game development expertise will be essential to delivering memorable gaming experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate effectively with designers, artists, and other developers to integrate game elements seamlessly.
  • Implement game features and mechanics using Unity, ensuring they align with the project’s creative vision and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain clean, efficient, and reusable code for Unity applications, focusing on performance and optimization.
  • Identify and resolve bugs and technical issues to maintain the game’s stability.
  • Optimize game performance by implementing efficient coding practices and profiling/debugging as needed.
  • Document feature code implementations and technical specifications and adhere to processes.
  • Proactively identify and address technical challenges and provide innovative solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • A minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in game development, with a strong portfolio showcasing Unity projects.
  • Proficiency in C# and familiarity with other programming languages.
  • Solid understanding of game development principles, including physics, AI, and rendering.
  • Experience with Unity 3D including asset integration and animation.
  • Knowledge of game optimization techniques and performance profiling.
  • Familiarity with version control systems.

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Game Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in game design, a passion for creating immersive gameplay experiences, and a proven track record of successfully bringing games from concept to launch. As a Senior Game Designer, you will play a key role in shaping the direction of our projects, mentoring junior designers, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality games that resonate with players.

 

Responsibilities:

Game Design Leadership and Mentoring:

  • Lead the conceptualization and design of gameplay mechanics, systems, and features that align with the game’s vision.
  • Provide creative direction and mentorship to junior designers, guiding them in developing their skills and contributing to the overall design process.
  • Collaborate with the creative and development teams to ensure that the design vision is consistently executed throughout the game’s development.

 

Detailed Game Design Documentation:

  • Create and maintain detailed design documents, including game mechanics, level layouts, user interfaces, progression systems, and more.

Prototyping and Iteration:

As a Game Designer at Nukebox Studios, you will play a crucial role in shaping the gameplay mechanics, level design & balancing, economy design & balancing, new systems, and overall player experience of our upcoming projects. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including artists, programmers, writers, and producers, to bring your creative vision to life. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and iterate on gameplay mechanics, level design & balancing, economy balancing, systems, and features for good engagement. 
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, prototype, and implement game features that align with the project’s creative vision.
  • Create and maintain detailed design documentation, including game mechanics, level layouts, progression systems, and player interaction guidelines.
  • Balance gameplay elements to ensure a satisfying difficulty curve and progression throughout the game and  to ensure that there is always a steady path for D1-D7 retention. 
  • Analyze player feedback, playtest results, and industry trends to refine and improve game mechanics and systems.
  • Contribute to narrative design by integrating gameplay mechanics with storytelling elements.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and provide creative input to enhance the overall game design.
  • Stay current with industry trends, new game releases, and emerging technologies to continuously improve your design skills and apply them to the projects.
